Georgia STAND-UP, We Vote. We Win. host GOTV events leading up to Final days of Election
Atlanta, GA – With Friday, December 2nd being the last day of early voting in the Georgia runoff election and over 1.1 million Georgians having already cast their ballots, newly engaged and minority voters are leading the way in turnout. Of these early voters, 5,499 were new and 159,452 were newly engaged voters. New voters are voters casting a ballot for the first time and newly engaged voters are voters who did not vote in 2016 but did vote in either the 2018 or 2020 elections. Additionally, people of color made up 58.6% of the electorate, and Black voters alone made up over 50% of all ballots cast.
“We are very encouraged by the numbers so far, but we still have a lot of work to do,” said Georgia STAND-UP and We Vote We Win CEO & Executive Director Deborah Scott. “We are still seeing waits of nearly 100 minutes at some polling places, which is simply unacceptable. We will continue our Party at the Polls to provide voter information and resources to those making their way out to vote.”
